Cruise or Land Holiday

There are many pros and cons to both types of holidays. Lets dive in to the benefits of cruising.

1. Travel

When choosing a no fly cruises, the travel is all part of the experience. You miss out on, the endless flights, cramped seats, busy airport traffic and tedious transfers. Say goodbye to inflight meals/delays to your hotel and say hello to a sun lounger by the pool/gourmet meals with real cutlery. The moment you step onboard your chosen ship, you can start enjoying the facilities right away. How could you say no?

2. Destination

Choosing where to go is endless on a cruise, why choose just one destination when you can have an itinerary full. Cruises allow you to have the most comfortable mode of transport, between each of your destinations whilst enjoying lots of facilities on the way. you can wake up in a new destination every day.

3. Accommodation

If it’s size that matters on your holiday, it’s safe to assume that the average four-star hotel room is larger than the average four-star cabin. Although accommodation can vary in size. Most cruise lines accommodate for other facilities. With modern rooms, and plenty of room to put your luggage a cabin feels like home the moment you step into it. With ships having ample amounts of entertainment, your cabin will be nothing more then a dressing room with a bed. From an inside cabin to a suite you have a wide range of options on how you would like to travel.

4. Facilities

Same as hotels facilities can vary from one ship to another, its always best to know what’s on offer before booking. As you will b e confined to the ship as part of your travel you will have so much to choose from with more being considered then when you would stay in a hotel with freedom to leave. Every ship is catered to the different types of travelers. Ultra-luxury like Silversea offer unique levels of luxury; Celebrity Cruises offer their version of modern luxury; whereas lines like P&O Cruises are more for a traditional cruiser. You can also select adults-only cruises from two of P&O Cruises’ ships including Aurora. Your choice is endless.

5. Children friendly

All ages are well catered for from tots to teens, with fantastic clubs, facilities and activities available. They will be spoilt for choice. P&O cruises offer 5 different clubs covering ages 6months to 17years. With modern games, toys and more. The staff are available 24/7, allowing you to relax by the pool whilst your children are making friends. On the P&O Arvia you have a splash zone, sports new, mini golf, go ape, mission control and so much more onboard. The closest comparison to a land based holiday with so much entertainment and activities would be CenterParcs or Butlins.

6. Excursions

One benefit with land holidays gives you prime opportunity to explore more of a location with additional time. This takes a lot of planning and time to organize. Before you know it your on your way home, without exploring anything further then the beach. On a cruise you are offered different types of excursions organized by experts catered to different travelers. You can make the most of every minute. Some cruise lines include some or all excursions in their price of the holiday. Giving you excellent value for money.

7. Service

The crew/passenger ratios are roughly 1:2 and 1:3 on the larger ships. It is known that the smaller the ship the higher the service level. On some ultra luxury cruise lines you have staff knowing what you want before you’ve even asked. On a larger ship this level of personalized service may differ due to the volume of passengers. Still being greeted with a “Good morning” or more, you may need to wait a little bit longer for your order or service. No matter the size of the vessel it will always be hard to find better service than onboard.

8. Entertainment

Hotel entertainment can be hit and miss so you never know what you will receive when booking. However with cruise ships you have all round entertainment for all ages. P&O cruises have the one and only Gary Barlow as music director as well as Steven Mulhern in a magic performance in the theatre. Other ships offer Tony Award-winning shows or a chance to watch synchronized swimmers and high-diving acrobats in the Aquatheater. There is entertainment all day and night on offer.

9. Food

With all inclusive holidays the food can vary and be hit and miss. The option of food can vary from ship and cruise line. Cruises are known as foodie holidays with brilliant choice of buffet and dinner. Depending on the size of the vessel a ship could have 1 main dining room too double figures on a mega ship. P&O Cruises has a roster of “Food Heroes” led by Marco Pierre White who creates the gala dinners across the fleet. On the Britannia you can do your own cooking, which has the first Cookery Club at sea. With different cuisines serving fish and chips, Indian and so much more, you aren’t strapped for the same style of food. With food served all day and times for dinner, it makes cruises hard to beat.

10. No ones left out

The biggest positive about cruising is everyone is kept happy on one holiday. Mum can go to the spa and relax, Children can go to the kids clubs and be entertained, Dad and go to the casino or sports bar and watch the football and the grandparents can attend dance classes like salsa or ballroom on P&O ships. As everything is under one roof it allows everyone to have the holiday they desire without the additional travel or hassle.
