Cruises on your own

Don’t let being a SOLO stop you from travelling!

There’s so much to love when Solo travelling which not many know about. Whether your travel partner is busy, you need some well deserved ‘Me Time’, or you want to step outside your comfort zone. The benefits are endless so, buckle in to see if its right for you.

Solo cruising offers incredible experiences and destinations all in a safe place. Travel between the amazing coast lines of the Mediterranean or the sun soaked Greek Islands. Seeing the northern lights is also a must, on one of P&O’s Northern Europe itinerary. The options are endless with different destinations to visit, at least one will be making you want more.

Travelling alone is the perfect way to prove something to yourself, whilst meeting other amazing people. On board P&O they offer solo meet ups, dance classes, morning meet as well as other ways to get to know each other. There is even more ways to meet others when at the restaurants or ashore. However, if you are still craving some alone time you can order room service or have a cheeky pamper in the spa, there’s always time to unwind how you like it. There will always be someone to take your photo.

I believe there’s lots of benefits to travelling alone. From meeting like-minded people of all ages, travelling without any compromise whilst on the ship and itinerary of your choice. I can take the stress out of travelling, not needing to dine on your own or go ashore on your own too (unless that’s what you want). There’s no flights included or walking to your hotel late at night alone, all you need to remember is when the ship departs.

What cabin should I choose?

There is plenty of cabin options to choose from as a solo traveller, which ever option is chosen you’ll never be disappointed. In every cabin there is a bed which will allow you to dream away with the perfect night sleep after a day of exploring. Plenty of room to store all your luggage (especially shoes) and your very own en-suite bathroom.

There is a number of cabins for you to choose from which include; A Single Cabin, Inside Cabin, Sea View Cabin, Balcony Cabin, or Suite. No matter what your preference, it will be your new home away from home.

If you don’t want to pay for a normal cabin, then a single cabin is perfect with everything you need. The single cabins offer ample of space and full of luxuries. Depending on what ship you choose there is an option of Inside, Sea View or Balcony cabins.

Britannia Single Balcony Cabin

If you would like more space and the ability to starfish on a queen sized bed then you can book Inside, Sea View and Balcony cabins. However, if you want to go a step further and add more luxury to your solo cruise, why not go for the mini-suite or Suites. With an added lounge area, complimentary Champagne and chocolates on arrival, butler service throughout the cruise, a bathrobe and slippers to take home, and a whirlpool bath to relax in, it will make your solo getaway that extra special.

Don’t worry. If you have a preference on an exact cabin you would like you can choose it (unless someone else has booked it). You simply choose select price when booking the holiday online, then choose the cabin. You can also check the Deck plans on every ship as well on the website.

I have done 3 cruises so far as a solo, all 3 have been the best cruises I have been on. I always choose a Standard balcony cabin as, it has more room for me and I can spread out in my queen size bed, like I do at home. As well I always book a cabin on the AFT (Back) of the ship on the starboard side, the back offers less movement. I like watching us dock in the mornings with a cup of tea. This may not be the right option for you, so always check first on the deck plan to see what location you think works best for you. You can always check Facebook pages for reviews of each cabin if you need that little help.
