We all took holidays for granted, pre covid we could book a getaway whenever we wanted and with ease. When covid hit it really opened our eyes to what we took for granted, seeing loved ones, having lunch in a café, going to events, travel, suddenly these were all taken away from us for a couple years. Once the restrictions lifted we all flocked to travel sites to book our first post covid holiday.
As it is getting back to normal once again, we have a new found appreciation for a holiday, one we never want to come home from. Having insurance which comes with Covid cover and being aware of those around us on holiday is the new normal. Always on our mind of a possibility, and to be cautions when visiting other countries. Before going abroad it is encouraged to check the guidelines, incase there is another outbreak whilst away. Packing a face mask as a precaution incase you need to take public transport.

Enjoy the time in each destination and truly soak up the breathtaking sights and culture. Don’t pack each day full of activity, causing you to be exhausted towards the end holiday. If you have never been to a destination before, you can always check what in around the port, there is also Facebook pages made for each cruise to help with any questions needing answered before embarkation. Choose 1 – 2 excursions or sights to see each day to give you time to soak in the culture.
Always do your research for each port you are visiting, this can be done before the cruise is booked or starts. Its always a nice surprise to the locals when you try to have a conversation in their language. I always have done when I go on cruises, it adds to the experience as well as leave the locals smiling.
Jump into the deep end and enjoy all the holiday has to offer, whether that is trying new local delicacies, plans changing due to popularity or the weather. There is lots of alternative attractions to visit some which are hidden treasures and only known by the locals.

Just like at home, its always encouraged to support local businesses where possible. Its the same as being abroad, always support a small chain where possible. One way to do this is by shore excursions, if they go by a shop or a souvenir stall, purchasing something could help keep their projects running or help sustain an independent organization.
As humans we love our mobile phones and cameras, sometimes the views can be so breathtaking our first instinct is to take a photo. Try being in the moment, appreciate the view and use your senses to heighten your experience. You might miss something beautiful if you look through a screen! A good example of this is in Lisbon, the ship goes under the Ponte de 25 April and everyone rushes to the top decks to get the best view… and watches through the screen. Give 100% to the experience and holiday, you might surprise yourself. Sitting in a local café with a coffee and olives should never been seen as time lost. You can watch the locals walk by, learn some new language, get to know your destination and much more. You can never truly waste time on holiday.

A holiday is what you make it too, don’t read negative reviews and allow your view to be tainted before personally experiencing it. There is always critics out there, some which will never be pleased. Immerse yourself fully, its your holiday!
