Arvia is P&O’s new ship, bigger than all the fleet, she is one to stand out. With 2,610 cabins to choose from, its important to know which ones you will like.

I know lots of staff members as well as friends who have cruised on the Arvia, so I have compiled all the information regarding cabins in this post. Hopefully this will help you choose your desired cabin. Iona is the sister ship of Arvia, which I have stayed in the inside cabins on her. On the other ships across the fleet I always go for a balcony, this time I chose different.
Like most of the other ships P&O have, Arvia has four main types of cabins to offer.
– Inside cabin (Single, Standard or Larger)
– Outside cabin (Standard)
– Balcony cabin (Single, Smaller, Standard or Deluxe)
– Suites (Conservatory mini-suite, Family sea View suite or Suite)
Inside cabins =
This is the cheapest option on the Arvia, and located in the interior of the ship. There is no option of natural light due to having no windows. For my family cruises growing up, we always chose a inside cabin as it was great value for money and we were too busy playing in the children’s clubs throughout the day. It is the perfect space to sleep. On the Iona I booked an inside cabin, this was great for saving money although, I was a bit out of shape not knowing what the weather was like or if we were near any land.
On the Arvia the standard measurements of an inside cabin is 135 square feet. There is larger inside cabins which are around 40% larger at 190 square feet. Inside cabins commonly fit two people, however there are specific inside cabins which accommodate three to four people. With a sofa that are made into beds in the evening and ‘Pullman beds’ from the ceiling there’s plenty of room for four.
With different types of cabins you can also have a choice (if available), of a rectangular or square shaped cabin. These are quite different from each other. With a option for those traveling solo, there is a single inside cabin available. For those needing a wheelchair or scooter, there are accessible inside cabins available too, which are 213 square foot and features a wet room.

Outside cabins =
These are more commonly known as sea view cabins, which are an upgrade from inside cabins. These unlike inside cabins, have a window to allow natural light in and views of the horizon. The standard measurement for an outside cabin is 210 square feet which is 55% larger than the inside cabins, however thy are also noticeably bigger than balcony cabins too. With the same amount of space as the deluxe balcony cabin, these are perfect for families or cold weather climates.
The location of these are on Deck 4 and 5, which is accessible for the midship on Deck 5. Full of shops, an atrium and a bar, you only need to walk one flight of stairs. The down side to this is that there is only four of these available, so you have to be extremely quick.
Like the inside cabins these can also accommodate two, three, and four passengers, but you will need to check if they have a sofa bed and Pullman bed. Accessible outside cabins are 307 square feet, which provides ample amount of space for those who need it.

Balcony Cabins =
Onboard there are 1,334 standard balcony’s to chose from. This is due to Arvia having a more tropical weather itinerary, allowing you to soak up the sun on your own private balcony. The smaller balcony cabins are only 150 square feet, which are smaller than your standard balcony cabins, but with the same size balcony, you’ll just lose space in the interior. The standard cabins are 170 square foot however, the 120 deluxe balcony cabins are 210 square feet making them 24% larger.
If you require accessible cabins but would like a balcony, then the standard and deluxe are both wheelchair accessible. Every balcony cabin comes with two small chairs and a table, just what you need to escape to your own privacy. Depending on your location some balcony’s are bigger than others, as well as some are not private or having a view of the ocean, this is all explained in more detail on the deck plans.

Suites =
If you want to relax in true luxury, this can be a choice you might consider. There are three types of suites to book on the Arvia, which are:
– Conservatory Mini Suites
These are the cheapest suites you can book on the Arvia, however they don’t come with any perks. These are more like the balcony cabins compared to the other suites, just with an additional lounge which is in between the bedroom and balcony. You do get the standard sofa which can be turned into a sofa bed, with an additional sofa in the conservatory. With bi-fold doors it adds that little extra luxury compared to the sliding doors in the standard balconies. These are 255 square feet which is 50% larger than a standard balcony cabin however, there is no wheelchair accessible options for this suite.
– Family Sea View Suites
To book these you will need to be super fast and extremely lucky, as there are only two of these onboard the whole ship. Perfect for families of three and four, they are located on Deck 8 which is the Promenade Deck. With no balcony, they offer something completely unique for families which is, large windows overlooking the Promenade. This offers families adequate space inside without the balcony for safety preferences. With 300 square feet, it is 43% larger than an Oceanview cabin and over twice the size on an inside cabin. You could book this for two people if you truly wanted too.
– Suites
With 25 suites on board to choose from, these are the largest and definitely the most breath taking of them all. Covering a massive 434 square feet, you’ll have a bedroom sperate from your living room as well as a balcony that wraps around. These can have up to four people with the option of a extra Pullman bed depending on the type you choose. These suites are located at the Forward and Aft of the ships corners on Decks 9 all the way to Deck 15. Being at the Forward and Aft you may feel more movement so, they might not be ideal for anyone who suffers from seasickness. The Forward suites have steel balconies causing you to not be able to sit down and enjoy the view, bring at the front of the ship you will be open to the wind. There is only one wheelchair accessible suite onboard so you have to snatch it up quick.
The luxury of Suites and Oceanview Suites don’t just stop there, they come with a load of benefits, unfortunately this doesn’t cover the Conservatory Mini suites.

Butler Service =
Your butler can do pretty much anything you ask. Some things may include, packing and unpacking your suitcase, make dinner reservations, deliver room service, schedule spa appointments, book shore excursions and possibly organise your laundry. Always ask your butler when you meet them for examples of what they are able to do.

How to choose the best cabin =
The cabins on the Arvia and across the fleet, are all done by cabin grades, which helps with pricing. Each cabin grade is made up of, two letters or a letter and number for example, HB or B2, and each grade has a significant colour. The first letter is the type of cabin such as; H is a balcony cabin, and the second letter/number corelates to the location of the ship, for example B is Mid aft to Mid forward. I have placed each cabin grade below and the meanings.
Cabin type = Grade (1st)
Suite = B
Conservatory Mini-suite = C
Deluxe Balcony = E
Balcony = G
Balcony (Single) = Q
Outside = L
Inside (Larger) = O
Inside = P
Inside (Single) = S
Cabin Location = Grade (2nd)
Forward or Aft (All decks) = E, Y, or 5
Forward (High or Low Decks) = F, Z, or 6
Mid (Mid Deck) = A
Mid Forward or Mid Aft (High or Low Decks) = C or W
Mid Forward, Mid, Mid Aft (All Decks) = B or V
Aft (Mid Decks) = D or 4
