If you haven’t read my last blog about Singles cruises, then I suggest you head over there before reading this. Below I will be discussing which cruise lines do Single Cruises, and which Cruise lines are best for solo travellers.
Any organised singles cruises are available for the below cruise lines. It is advised to book these through a travel agency such as SinglesCruise.com or selecttravelholidays.co.uk. This will ensure the you have booked the singles package. Booking independently through the cruise line, you wont be able to join any of the group activities once onboard.
– Carnival
– Celebrity Cruises
– Norwegian Cruise Line
– Royal Caribbean

Which Cruise Line Is best?
Like me some people may find organised groups a bit too much when travelling. I enjoy the peace and making my own decisions on what I want to do for the day. I always choose to have a mixed table of 8, this allows me to meet new people at dinner however, I have eaten on a table on my own which was a lovely experience too. If you are like me then I would advise to book a ‘normal’ cruise with one of these cruise lines below, as they are known to be accommodating to solo travellers.
– Carnival
You may have heard Carnival being referred to as the ‘Fun Ships’. Being catered for those who like a good party, they do live up to their nickname. Being the attraction for the younger crowds than most cruise lines, they host multiple single mixers throughout the cruise, allowing it to be easier to meet other solo travellers. In the school holidays there can be children onboard.
Unfortunately Carnival doesn’t offer single rooms, causing you to book standard rooms with a supplement fee. They do make up for it though by offering Cloud 9 rooms which include a pampering experience for 1, or the Havana rooms with private access to the VIP Havana pool and bar area.
– Cunard
Across the fleet they offer single cabins as well as, a wide range of activities for solo travellers to meet up. With dance classes to attend with male hosts, you can get stuck in. Being the most popular ship for those over 50, it is not a party cruise but all ages are welcome. The Cunard takes on a different side to cruising.
– Holland America Line
This cruise line offers a phenomenal Single Partners Program which includes a tonne of activities, games, classes as well as solo parties too. There are single cabins as well as a room-sharing programme too. You can also choose to share a standard cabin with another guest who is the same sex, and only have to pay the per-person double occupancy rate.
– Norwegian Cruise Line
Being awarded the ‘Best Cruise Line for Solo Travellers’ 6 years in a row, speaks volumes in itself. Norwegian Cruise Line has incorporated in their new ships studio cabins for one. They have also brought out the Studio Lounge exclusive to solo travellers only. Positioned on a single corridor, meeting other solo travellers will come with ease.
There is quite a bog cost when it comes to booking one of these Studio cabins, depending on the cruise it can be cheaper to book a double room and pay the single supplement. The Studio cabins are small and windowless so you might not spend much time in there and instead, hit the top deck for the fresh air and sun light.
– P&O Cruises
Across the whole fleet, there are single cabins to book with a choice of inside, window and balcony cabins. These do get booked up fast, so you will need to be quick. There are 2 adult only cabins, Arcadia and Aurora which are smaller ships and allows you to avoid any children. With mostly British travellers onboard, most ships depart from Southampton. There are some Itineraries on ships such as Azura, that stay in exotic locations all year round. With plenty to do onboard, options for shared dining as well as coffee morning meets and sailaway meet ups, there is plenty of opportunities to meet other solo travellers.
I use P&O when travelling solo and I absolutely love them. Everyone is always friendly and I have met some amazing people onboard, from guest entertainers, to employees and other guests. P&O offer great packages and opportunities to meet people from all ages and back grounds. I have been on cruises which were party cruises to Amsterdam, as well as 7 nights to the Fjords which was more relaxed. P&O are a company which I will continue to use until they change their solo policy. I don’t see that happening.

No matter what you choose to do, a singles cruise can be a brilliant experience and a lot of fun. You need to make sure you pick the right cruise line and you know what to expect. It is always best to speak to experts prior to booking the cruise.
