Mediterranean 14-night cruise.

2nd August – 16th August 2024

This will be a few parts due to a lot happening whilst on this holiday. Being a special cruise with the whole family, celebrating a birthday and with myself becoming ill, it will be a lot for you to read in one post.

The holiday started off with a drive down to Southampton. We booked a hotel for the night before (1st August) to make boarding easier as well as, not needing to worry about traffic. I drove with mum before being joined by everyone else. In total there was 14 of us, including the babies.

The boarding process was very easy and straight forward! We dropped our cars off and walked 10minutes to a Starbucks around the corner before it was our boarding time. Checking in was quick and so was security, we were all on board within 30 minutes. Luggage arrived and we were settled into our cabins, so we headed up to the top deck for our sail away party.

As there was a number of sea days I will lightly cover them and only mentioned what I did differently.

We had two sea days before our first port of call, so we spent the time relaxing, sunbathing, playing cards, shopping and LOTS of ice cream. The first night was a celebration night so we got all dolled up for diner and then hit the silent disco.

Before docking in Cadiz, I had a infected wisdom tooth. So for the first time in my cruising journey I made my way to medical to receive some anti biotics. (This was the kiss of death we never knew was coming). In Cadiz we done some exploring before stopping in the beautiful centre. Strangely enough we all had a cold beer (minus the children) and when it was time to pay we were told we had paid. We did try to argue this as non of us had paid, but the staff were adamant and wouldn’t take our money. There was more exploring and shopping, before heading back to the ship. There was quizzes on before the night-time entertainment.

Another sea day and as the sun was warming up, I decided to sunbathe and read my book most of the day. Before getting ready for another celebration night.

It was Mallorca time it the weather was stunning. As it was 39 degrees, it called for a beach day. The sea was lovely and refreshing but the sand was HOT!! After some time in the sea, I went to find some where to eat. I had a lovely ham and cheese croissant with a cold beer (you’ll see a pattern emerging soon). To keep cool we popped into shops for the aircon, whilst slowly making our way back to the ship. It was my uncles birthday so, we booking the SINDHU as a treat for him. The food was absolutely amazing and worth every penny! We then partied the night away with guest singers as well as trumpet players. They became one of my highlights on the cruise.

We had a sea day again which consisted of being in the pool, sunbathing, going to lectures, playing quizzes, drinking and ICE CREAM.

The sun rise was mesmerising when arriving in Cagliari. It was another hot day so we took a slow walk into the city centre and stopped for you guessed it, a cold beer and ice cream. None of us had been here before so we went back to the port and hopped on an open buss tour. The sights were stunning and we got to see the Flamingos. Once back onboard and we had dinner, it was time to hit the top deck and party the night away with the trumpet guys, (I forgot their name) as well as a silent disco after.

This sea day was special, we got to watch Sooty and Sweep!!! The adults were more happy to watch then the children. This was our third celebration night and everyone was just as dressed up as the first.

I will give you a break and stop here for the first week of the holiday. I will post the second part soon where I explain what happened towards the end of the holiday. If you don’t want to miss out on any of my posts, then make sure you are subscribed to not miss any. I post every fortnight with special posts when I return from a cruise.
