Mediterranean 14-night cruise part2.

2nd August – 16th August 2024

Hopefully you have read yesterdays post regarding the first week of my holiday otherwise this might not make much sense. I advise you head to yesterdays before reading this post.

Saxophone guys I mentioned in part 1

We are in Ibiza! One place that genuinely surprised me, I have never had the urge to go here. Mainly because I’m not a massive drinker/partier so it never appealed to me but, I was completely wrong. We took a short walk into the town where we decided to explore more so, we kept walking until we stumbled on Baluard de Santa Llucia. The views were stunning so after lots of photos we sat and watched the busy port. Deciding we were hungry and warm we went and stopped for some food and a beer before, doing some shopping and heading back to the ship. I will definitely come back to Ibiza.

We woke up in Cartagena another place I haven’t been before. Being 35 degrees the weather wasn’t as intense as it has been throughout the week. The port was surrounded with architecture. After doing some essential shopping, I grabbed some frozen yoghurt before stopping for a well deserved beer. Using this opportunity to rest and cool down we then carried on walking and taking in the city. Whilst being on holiday we realised we haven’t had any freshly made local pizza, so we done a pitstop at a local café for pizza and… BEER! Once back on the ship and finished dinner, we had the luck of seeing Sooty and Sweep again as well as the Celtic Harps.

Celtic Harps

Our last port was Gibraltar, an emotional day as we will soon be heading back home. The family split as some of us wanted to see just the monkeys, others wanted to shop and then I wanted to do both. I’ve been to Gibraltar many times and visiting the monkeys is a must! I then went shopping and exploring the local cathedrals. Lots of people wait until Gibraltar to buy gifts/anything a they can be cheaper then back at home. I made it back on board where I met up with everyone before having my photo taken with Sooty and Sweep. An emotional goodbye to Gibraltar and we were heading back home.

*The change in temperature when we turned the corner leaving Gibraltar was incredible. One minute we were all sunbathing and the next we were all hiding inside from the cold wind.

Now this is where it all goes down hill, I had no idea what was about to happen and I don’t think I could of ever been ready for it!

We had two sea days before we are back in Southampton and disembarking, so I had a number of things planned to look forward too and embrace the time left. There was some motion but not the worst I have experienced. I started the day relaxing with the family, doing last minute shopping in the atrium and then playing BINGO. I didn’t win anything (Shock) but soon after me and mum headed to the theatre as we had booked in for a ships tour.

The ships tour was amazing! We went to the galleys, behind the main stage in the theatre, to the engine room, down to the mooring deck, and finished off in the bridge. They then took us to the crows nest where we were given champagne and canapes.

Me and mum left and this is where I started feeling off. I decided to head back to the cabin and have a rest to see if this made me feel better, I had the captains party later so I wanted to feel better. I managed to go and they were offering wine, whiskey, any drinks you wanted for free. Typically I just wanted water. I headed back to the cabin and missed out on Beef Wellington at dinner (the one dish i was looking forward too and wanting the whole cruise).

Now this is where things change dramatically, so I wont make you read any more. I will post what happens next and how I ended up in medical AGAIN for this cruise. Part 3 will be out soon…
