On Saturday 9th August around 1140am, P&O Ventura was evacuated due to a bomb threat onboard!

The holiday makers where made to leave the ship which was docked at Mayflower Cruise Terminal in Southampton. The staff onboard and the emergency services acted fast once they learnt of the possibility of a man onboard with an explosive device.
The ship was cornered off whilst the specialists searched the ship and a nearby lorry. Thankfully no device was found and the man who made the threat was arrested on suspicion of creating a public order offence and communicating false information.

Shortly after the holidaymakers were allowed back on board and could truly enjoy their getaway. It was very reassuring to see all P&O personnel and the emergency service ask so fast in making sure passenger safety was priority.

My mum disembarked the Ventura in the morning so I was very relieved that she wasn’t onboard when the threat was made.
