Greece, Crete & Turkey (pt 2)

14th August 2025 – 21st August 2025.

If you haven’t read part 1 to this cruise then you might want to read that, so you have an idea of how the holiday has been going and what ports are coming up.

We are now in Souda Bay and gosh I had mixed views. The was no excursion we wanted to do so instead we decided to explore ourselves. The port ran a shuttle bus into the main town centre but, this didn’t appeal to us at the time. We now know why everyone chose this option.

We headed down this long path which was extremely uneven and after a while we found a café that didn’t look abandoned. There was some locals there so it made us feel comfortable choosing this as a place to grab a drink. As we were sitting there we were given a shot glass full of a clear liquid, it had no smell so we were unsure what it was. The locals said its “Good Luck” whatever that entails, I had a one eyed kitten next to me so read what you will. As we contemplated what to do some English tourists walked past and we asked for their opinion. It turns out it was Ouzo, so we decided to take the shot and it went down like water.

After this we took a walk around the area and stopped in a supermarket where we picked some local foods to try back on the ship. Once we got back there was not much time to get onto the shuttle into the centre, so we headed back onboard. The ship wasn’t overly busy which meant we secured prime sun bed locations.

It was the 19th August which meant it was Ambers birthday as well as our last port before we headed home. I decorated the whole cabin with birthday banners and ordered Continental breakfast in bed. Our last port was in Kusadasi and when you get off of the ship and into the ‘Resort Town’, it is bustling. There are a load of shops which the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic in what they sell. We planned to go swimming and then shop after.

There were a few beaches around the port and we thankfully bumped into an English couple who pointed us in the right direction. One wrong turn and you’d have to pay for the beach. The beach was called Kadinlar Beach. It wasn’t a big beach but the water was so warm and refreshing. The weather was lovely so it was back to the centre where we stopped for food.

We stopped in Nova Port Café a guy who worked there was so accommodating who spoke to us about the area, his life back in Manchester before moving to the area and most importantly what food to have. It definitely elevated our experience.

Once we done some shopping we went to the cabin where we were met with a birthday cake and a nice animal surprise made out of towels. It was our last sail away so we had a party on the top deck. Then it was celebration night again so time to dust off our other dresses and enjoy an evening of entertainment.

This is the time I love but hate. The last day of holiday which means its time to pack and prepare for home time. Around this time the shops onboard become very busy as well as the cruise sales desks, so its always good to get in there early. This last day was well relaxed; we sunbathed, swam and enjoyed spending time with people who we met onboard. Before enjoying one last silent disco on the top deck.

Now this is where it does a full 180! At dinner I didn’t feel too good but I didn’t let it stop me from enjoying my last night. Once back in the cabin I just go progressively worse before I continually vomited all through the night. I hardly slept so he next morning to go into Malta crumbled. I stayed onboard and was in and out of sleep until it was our time to meet up and head onto our coach.

To save you all from the boring details and frankly I don’t remember much… I slept the whole way home.

Overall it was an amazing holiday with another unfortunate ending (if you are aware of what happened in August 2024). I met some lovely people who helped in creating some funny memories which me and Amber sill talk about most days. I cant wait for my next adventure which will be in December.
